During its first month of operation, the Dubai Metro has transported a total of 1,740,578 passengers on the Red Line since it opened to the public on September 10 until October 10, according to figures released by the Dubai Roads and Transport Agency (RTA).
The Mall of the Emirates station was used by the highest number of passengers, followed by Khalid bin Al Waleed Station in Bur Dubai.
The RTA also announced that plans are also in the pipeline to extend the Red Line by 15.5km to the border with Abu Dhabi, adding 6 stations and a multi-storey car park at the border. It was also reported that the metro’s Green Line in Dubai would be operational by the middle of next year.
