Emirates Airlines has recently placed an $11.5 billion order for a further 32 Airbus A380’s. This order is in addition to the 10 megajumbo jet’s that they currently own and the further 48 A380’s that Emirates still have on order.
These figures instantly make Emirates the largest customer of the super jumbo A380’s. Once all their orders are delivered, Emirates will boast a fleet of 90 A380’s which equals a worth in the region of $30 billion and affirms Emirates’ strategy to become a world leading carrier and to further establish Dubai as a central gateway.
This news comes hot off the heels on the fact that Airbus recently delivered their 30th A380 and are well on their way to turning the Mega Jumbo Jet into a huge success.
Emirates CEO Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al-Maktoum placed the order at the Berlin Air Show where he also signed the paperwork for the $11.5 billion deal.
The massive order is not only good for Emirates and Airbus but it also represents that the troubled aviation world may be well on its way to a full recovery.
