An increase in the use of e-service portals across all government departments has been recorded this year.
During the first 10 months of 2010 more than 2 million passengers have used e-gates at the Dubai Airport.
The Director-General of the Dubai Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs, Major-General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, said 2.9 million people used the e-gates up to the end of October which is an increase of over 217,000 passengers from 2009.
Similarly, over 89,000 e-cards were issued during this period. Meanwhile, the number of transactions of Tabadol service at the Ministry of Labour was over 31,000 according to Al Marri. The number of visitors to the ministry website hit over 2 million while the number of transactions completed through the default service was over 2.7 million.
Over617,0oo people used e-services to cross UAE borders during the first 10 months of 2010 while the number of transactions completed at the 7 self-service kiosks in Dubai was over 30,000.
Al Marri lauded the efforts of staff for their hard work to implement modern technology to enhance customer service. Employees will be regularly trained, he added.
Meanwhile the Assistant Director of the e-service department, Lt. Col. Khalid Nasser Al Razouqi , said.. “The department seeks to provide and harness the latest technology to ease procedures for the public.”
Al Marri was also accompanied by Brigadier Obaid bin Suroor, Deputy Director of the department and Col Awad Al Awim, Assistant Director for Administrative and Financial Affairs on his tour of the department.
