Kevin Spacey’s Middle East Theatre Academy
Hollywood actor Kevin Spacey has now launched the foundation of the Middle East Theatre Academy in Dubai.
The Theatre Academy in Dubai will be the first of its kind in the emirate. The aim of the project is designed to motivate and build self-confidence in underprivileged children and teenagers through a theatre and stage performance education programme.
The non-profit organisation will be making use of existing theatre and staging facilities in Dubai to offer a range of creative opportunities including workshops, masterclasses and special events led by theatre professionals.
Kevin Spacey commented, “My mentor Jack Lemmon had a phrase that he used all the time. He believed that if you’ve been successful in your chosen path, then ‘sending the elevator back down’ is your obligation.”
