Emirates flights to Copenhagen from Dubai operate daily with 237-seat A330-200 aircraft. The use of 3-class configuration aircraft makes Emirates the first airline to serve Copenhagen with a first class cabin since 2006 when Varig seized operating and Thai reconfigured its cabin layout.
SAS has previously operated the route between Copenhagen and Dubai in winter only, but will not relaunch services this winter in competition with Emirates. Norwegian does, however, continue serving the route this winter, operating in competition with Emirates. However, the low-cost airline only operates once-weekly.
Notably, Copenhagen has recently attracted a range of Gulf carriers, Qatar Airways’ has grown record-fast and Gulf Air only last month launched flights to the airport. Pradeep Kumar, Emirates’ SVP Cargo Revenue Optimisation & Systems, commented on the new route:
“This new link opens up Scandinavia for Emirates on the cargo side too. We have been sending in freighters to Gothenburg in Sweden since 2003, but this additional channel, feeding into our vast and efficient network, will be welcomed by importers and exporters by offering more frequencies and cargo capacity.”
